The growth of AMF since the release of Blaze DS and the AMF spec has been nothing short of amazing. I continue to see lots of great new server software projects leveraging AMF data formats. This morning I was reading the FlexCoders mailing list and an announcement of a new AMF library "PyAMF - AMF for Python" appeared leveraging Python targeting Twisted (I love twisted), Django, Pylons, TurboGears and CherryPy. Seeing a single project add this much functionality into Python web development is really great for the Flash/Flex developer community.

It's exciting to see how successful Adobe is with the open source strategy. In my eyes the opening of the AMF format and the announcement of BlazeDS will have a major impact on the RIA industry by creating more server side products/frameworks supporting AMF communication with RIA clients. For all supporters of open standards and open source the current success story will make it even easier to convince more people at Adobe of the power of openness.
How does AMF, which is based on remoting, used with Windows Communication Foundation supposedly a more advanced technology then remoting? With companies investing in both Flex and .Net technologies, won't it be difficult for businesses to stick with AMF with WCF support lacking?
