2.5 Billion Player 9 Installs?

In a few minutes my counter will pass 2,500,000,000 players installed. I will check with Emmy on the Akamai data for today, tommorrow when it gets reported.

Ahhhhh... 2.5 Billion Served!

    Is that installs or downloads?

The Adobe "installations" stat is for successfully installed software, rather than just completed downloads, or just initial download requests.

(When a new Player installation first starts it pings a server at adobe.com. Most other stats cited this way are for initial ActiveX requests, triggered when visiting a page (in IE/Win) which holds the content, and which do not test whether that download was completed. The Player numbers are for actual successfully completed installations, which makes the "millions per day" number quite unprecedented.)

The number is successful installs, downloads are much higher.
