This statistic was posted at FlexCamp last night. This is the reason to target Flash Player 9, reach. I have a hard time wrapping my head around 2,320,000,000 but at 8,000,000 players installed per day it seems to be adding up.
Makes me wonder how many PC's are out there.
Cheers,
Ted :)

Does this include version 9 point upgrades as well? So from 9.0.x to 9.0.y.
This is sooo good news..
Bravo Flash Player, bravo!
adding with the comment of Erki I would like to know the browser case.
e.g. I have 3 pc one in home, one in office and a office laptop. all of them have three diffrent browser installed. IE, Firefox and opera in this case what will be the flash player count? is it 9?
and with the different version installed what will be the exact number of installation?
Let's have a glass of champagne !! Flash Player Ruuuuulezz :-)
Subtract 1000 from that number, which is approximately the number of times I've uninstalled and re-installed for testing purposes. :)
I saw the slide too, but haven't seen the source document, and so don't have details.
But I do know that the "players installed per day" stat for Adobe Flash Player the past few years has been measured by a ping to the Adobe servers when a newly-installed Player first starts. The majority of these successful installations are updates; some are for new systems.
There had been an average 5-6 million successful installations per day for a long time, spiking above 10 million a day during some special events. Eight million completed installations per day sounds reasonable to me, but I'd have to see the source citation to talk much beyond that.
(In the past, other plugins have talked about "downloads per day", which they measure by the number of initial server requests for the plugin. That overestimates completed downloads or successful installations, particularly in Windows-heavy audiences with the automatic ActiveX requests.)

I would need to see a source at adobe before I could believe this stat...
Official source is coming soon. The number will be officially released with the NDP numbers. These were presented at FlexCamp by Adobe.
