Flex 2 - Dive Photo Viewer

I survived the dive trip to Cocos Island, Costa Rica but my move to San Francisco almost got me. I put together a photo viewer of my photographs I took on the dive trip. The photo viewer is view source enabled so feel free to take a look at the code.

The application uses an externally loaded XML file for the image metadata. I used E4x, data binding, and a custom item renderer for the image thumbnails. I also used constraint based layout and states to hide the thumbnails and layout the components.

Requires Flash 9 Player Beta:
Cocos Island Costa Rica Dive Photos

The trip was awesome. Highlights were night diving with 2000 reef sharks and swimming with a 30ft Whale Shark on our last dive (the big shadow towards the end).

More demos and projects coming...

cheers,

ted :)

Nice photos - I'm envious! Tried to do the Cocos trip myself, but only made it as far as Playas Del Coco - a sinus infection kept me on the beach. Was finally able to see a whale shark last year, though (Belize).

BTW, what kind of camera/equipment did you use?

I used an Ikelite housing with a Canon G5 with Sea&Sea Strobe. My Nikonus wide angle slide film is being developed and I have about 10 minutes of HD of the Whale Shark.

I will be posting FLV support for the Photo Viewer when I get a chance. The video of the whale shark gives much more context to the trip. If you get a chance to dive Cocos it is a dream dive trip.

    Cheers,

    Ted ;)
